Alan has spent forty-plus years working in law firms in Auckland and Warkworth, including completing a post-graduate Master of Commercial Law degree. After two years as a High Court Judge in Fiji (disrupted by Covid), Alan thought he had earned a quieter life in Tauranga. He soon discovered that he still had a passion for law(and a limited patience for reading and walking the dog), so gratefully accepted a consultant role with Harris Tate.
Alan’s background includes:
Alan's true passion lies in finding practical solutions to clients' problems and needs. While these solutions are often straightforward and routine, sometimes they require imagination, a comprehensive understanding of the law and its historical principles, and the ability to see beyond the obvious, which are Alan’s true strengths.
Alan’s profound love for the law, coupled with his experience in a medium-sized legal practice (dealing with a broader range of work than would be possible in a larger firm) and his time as a judge, has equipped him with a ‘solutions-orientated’ approach to his clients’ needs. This approach, combined with his extensive knowledge and experience, his sensitivity and concern for his clients’ interests, inspires confidence in his ability to consistently deliver effective outcomes for his clients.
