Elder Client Law

We understand the particular requirements of elder clients, their families and carers.

Our experienced and sensitive approach can help to make planning for the future as straightforward as possible. Our main legal services for the elder client are described below but we are also happy to advise on related matters, such as Rest Home subsidy planning, selecting a rest home, reverse annuity mortgages, organising your affairs as you approach retirement, wills and passing your assets onto you children.

Enduring Powers of Attorney

An ordinary power of attorney is a legal document appointing someone else to deal with your financial affairs. An Enduring Power of Attorney (EPA for short) is much wider than an ordinary power of attorney in that it is not revoked by the subsequent mental incapacity of the donor. Also, by making an EPA, you can authorise your Attorney/s to make decisions relating to your finances as well as your Personal Care & Welfare.

Long Term Care - planning ahead to protect your assets

If you needed to enter long term care at some point in the future, you could end up paying a significant part of your estate in care home fees.

We can help you to minimise these costs with careful planning.
